3g Speaker Shares Grandfather's Story of Surviving the Holocaust

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE- The Holocaust & Human Rights Education Center (HHREC) of White Plains, NY has announced Samantha Levin has joined their Holocaust GenerationsForward Speakers Bureau.

Samantha Levin is the granddaughter of the late Rabbi Mayer Moskowitz, a Holocaust Survivor from Czernowitz, Romania. Levin tells the story of how her grandfather as a young boy endured the Nazi occupation of his city and witnessed the tragic murder of his father, was forced into a ghetto and later deported to a concentration camp, from which he made a daring escape.

Her story is of his journey across Europe to the British Mandate of Palestine, and years later, the United States, and how he devoted his life to Jewish education as a teacher, principal, camp director, and cantor, touching the lives of thousands of students, including one who would become the President of Israel. Following in her grandfather’s footsteps, Samantha chose a life of teaching and service dedicated to inspiring young minds and preserving the memory of her grandfather’s story.

Levin holds a Masters of Education from Arizona State University, where her applied project examined the use of Holocaust education as a tool to mitigate increasing rates of antisemitism in schools. She is dedicated to inspiring young minds and preserving the memory of her grandfather’s story. Through her volunteer work sharing his testimony, she continues his mission—ensuring that the lessons of the Holocaust and the call for Never Again lives on for generations to come.

The HHREC GenerationsForward Speakers Bureau includes second and third generation Holocaust speakers who are children and grandchildren of Holocaust survivors. They meet throughout the year and have ongoing projects, events, book clubs and engage in presentations.

“We are excited to have Samantha join our Speakers Bureau, as recounting her grandfather’s Holocaust experience supports his first-hand witness to history,“ said Daniel Weinreb, HHREC Board Chairman. “We look forward to having her share the lessons of the Holocaust with people in our communities.” For more information about Levin and other HHREC Speakers, visit HHRECNY.org
