Holocaust Warnings: Reflections

The HHREC/Iona University Annual Kristallnacht commemoration will feature Dr. Carol Rittner who will speak on the topic “Holocaust Warnings: Reflections.” Dr. Rittner teaches that Holocaust education remains essential not because the Holocaust is the only tragedy we should study, but because it remains one of the clearest and most powerful lenses through which we can examine the dangers of hatred, indifference, and unchecked power. At a moment when truth is often contested and human dignity is too often ignored, the Holocaust remains urgently relevant.
Dr. Rittner is a member of the Religious Sisters of Mercy of the Americas. She is a Distinguished Professor of Holocaust & Genocide Studies Emerita and the Dr. Marsha Raticoff Grossman Professor of Holocaust Studies Emerita at Stockton University (New Jersey, USA). An internationally recognized scholar of the Holocaust, Dr. Rittner is the recipient of six honorary doctorates among many other honors, the author or co-editor of dozens of books, and the executive producer of three documentary films. The Triumph of Memory (1988) won a Golden Globe award.
