HHREC Holocaust Survivor Speaker Rabbi Dr. Aliza Levy-Erber will present the powerfully moving and memorable story of her survival during the Holocaust, and her life since as a mother, pastor, physician, professor and playwright.
Aliza tells the story of how her father, active with the Dutch resistance, was caught and sent to a concentration camp, and how her mother married him and gave birth to Aliza who was deported and hidden in a bunker where she remained for two long and perilous years. She will also speak of her surviving family members’ struggle to reunite after the war, and of her own challenges to create a meaningful life.
Aliza has been honored with the Forbes Torch of Freedom Award; the Julian Y. Bernstein Distinguished Service Award; and the New York City College of Technology of the City of New York Distinguished Achievement Award. She was also a keynote speaker at the Westchester Countywide Yom HaShoah Commemoration.
