Samantha Levin is the granddaughter of the late Rabbi Mayer Moskowitz, a Holocaust survivor from Czernowitz, Romania. As a young boy, Mayer endured the Nazi occupation of his city and witnessed the tragic murder of his father. He was forced into a ghetto and later deported to a concentration camp, from which he made a daring escape. His remarkable journey took him across Europe to the British Mandate of Palestine, and years later, the United States. 

Rabbi Moskowitz, who was ordained and graduated from the Hebrew Teachers College, devoted his life to Jewish education. Over decades as a teacher, principal, camp director, and cantor, he touched the lives of thousands of students, including one who would become the President of Israel, Isaac Herzog. In his eulogy, President Herzog remembered him as “a pillar of fire before our people, lighting the way forward.”

Following in her grandfather’s footsteps, Samantha chose a life of teaching and service. She holds a Masters of Education from Arizona State University and is dedicated to inspiring young minds and preserving the memory of her grandfather’s story. Through her volunteer work sharing his testimony, she continues his mission—ensuring that the lessons of the Holocaust and the call of Never Again live on for generations to come.Gloria Lazar tells the story of her father, Arthur, whose courage, determination and cunning were key to his survival after the Nazis invaded his town in southern Poland in September 1939. Arthur broke his silence 35 years after the end of the war and recorded his story as an oral memoir so that his only child would write about his survival and the endurance of the human spirit.
